My second favorite film in Cannes after “Substance”. (I have not seen “Anora”). A musical about drug traffickers and corruption in Mexico??? What kind of bullshit???”Emilia Perez” is really inventive. It combines many different genres: drama, comedy, musical, thriller, but it does it very well and interestingly. It is also extremely original and surprisingly emotional. Here is a character who has a touching and heartbreaking journey ahead of him throughout the film. I will not go into details.

Actually, this is not a spoiler, because it is revealed in the first 15-20 minutes of the film, but I did not know about it and was shocked that the film went in this direction. That’s why we advise you not to read the description and watch it completely blindly if you want to get the best experience. She received the award for the best female role in Cannes for as many as 4 performances (Carla Sofia Gascon, Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz). Saldana plays the main character, she has a lot of tense and spectacular scenes (especially musical ones). I’m glad that after all these blockbusters, she finally got a role where she could show her acting skills. A Gascon plays the main character. It’s kind of a minor role, but honestly, she’s the heart of the film, and the whole plot revolves around her. Gomez and Paz were good, but I’m surprised they also won the Palme – their performances weren’t as great and memorable as those of Saldana and Gascon.
I like cinematography and music
Jacques Audiard’s vision is bold and impressive. This film is stylish and looks beautiful. Not everything works perfectly, and there were moments when I wasn’t totally into it, but most of the time I enjoyed it and was blown away by its insanity, ingenuity, and originality. I’m not a big fan of musicals, but the musical scenes (of which there aren’t that many) in this film are captivating and very well staged. frame, thanks to which they are pleasant to watch. Memorable and memorable songs (my favorite ones are about vaginoplasty and the taste of cola). “Emilia Perez”; not for everyone. Some people left, some said it was one of the worst films of the festival, some liked it (including me).
